The locking system is activated by an electromagnet. Since the locking mechanism is activate by electricity, you do not need to install additional equipment to activate the lock.
The electric differential lock allows you to mechanically lock the axle housing 100% in a minimum amount of time.
Design features
- Changing the direction of rotation of the wheels
Most electric differential lockers use an electromagnet. These locks are unlocked and locked again when the direction of car movement is changed. During unlocking and locking, the mechanism experiences high loads. Therefore, these locks cannot function properly for long periods of time and eventually break down. Differential locks from the «hardblock» company are also unlocked and locked when the car’s direction changes, but due to their excellent resistance to shock loads and small angle of lock actuation, they do not experience critical wear. This allows confidently changing the direction of vehicle movement when trying to overcome obstacles without worrying about the differential locker breaking or limiting driving style.
- The differential lock control unit
The design of the electric locker uses a differential lock control unit that allows the magnet to be demagnetized to clearly disable the locker. This allows you to abandon powerful springs and high consumption. Low consumption and low friction force produce significantly less heat, which reduces the thermal load on highly loaded bridge parts. The system also provides an indication of activation and monitoring of wiring breakage.
- There is no need for additional equipment
The differential with an electric locking system uses the vehicle’s on-board network. There is no need to install an additional pneumatic system. The kit includes everything you need to connect the lock.

You can activate the electric locker while the car is moving, it will not damage the locking mechanism, the entire system will withstand and will not be damaged as it is designed for it. This allows you not to waste time stopping or choosing the right moment to activate the differential lock in off-road motorsport when there is no time to wait and a dynamic driving style is needed to reach the finish line. (Be careful, activating the lock on the move can lead to loss of control, and in case of significant slippage, to breakdown of transmission components).
- Power in the satellite group.
To achieve the «Hard block» differentials ability to withstand high loads, a sattelite group was developed. It represents the strongest arrangement based on a solid cross piece. The gears of the satellite group have an original tooth shape that allows them to withstand the greatest (in comparison with the classic tooth shape) loads. The one-piece cross piece distributes the load between the satellites in equal parts, unlike structures with a combined cross piece. Due to the overall rigidity of the cross piece, the wear of the cross piece mating surfaces in the differential is ten times slower. These technical solutions have made it possible to increase the overall load capacity of the satellite group by more than 2 times compared to the standard crosspiece of your car. The presence of a hole in the cross piece allows you to remove the damaged axle shaft.
- There are no restrictions on operation.
The «Hardblock» differential locker can withstand loads exceeding the maximum loads for axle shafts, drive shaft and ring and pinion gears. The strength of the mechanism, together with the possibility of activation while the car is moving, allows you to operate the differential lock without restrictions.

The differential carrier is coated with a high-strength «bluestone» anti-friction coating to avoid damage to the rubbing surfaces under extreme operating conditions.
- The oil channel system.
The differential is equipped with an advanced system of channels for supplying oil to rubbing surfaces. The differential сarrier is a simple oil pump for supplying oil to the inside of the differential due to spiral channels. The abundant lubrication of the rubbing surfaces reduces the contact temperature and minimizes the risk of jamming of the parts.
- Maximum rigidity of the differential carrier.
The differential carrier has the maximum rigidity of the ring gear seat. This makes it possible to increase the load capacity of the ring and pinion gears by minimizing the bending of the ring gear under critical loads.

To install the differential locker, you do not need to significantly change the design of the axle housing, you just need to make a hole for the control cable.
